Governors' Grove

Governors' Grove This collection includes more than 60 stately eastern white pines, each planted in honor of one of Maine's governors and labeled with his name and dates in office. Maine became a state in 1820 as part of the Missouri Compromise. It was part of Massachusetts politically from the 1690s to 1820. No Massachusetts governors are represented in the collection.
