Hosta Garden
Winding as it does through the shade of a white birch grove and containing some 80 varieties, the hosta collection is an Arboretum favorite. Many of the original plants came from the Arnold Arboretum, many others have been since added. The Maine Hosta Society conducts a popular show and sale at the Arboretum each May.
People often ask when the Hostas will be in bloom, and the plants do produce often purple-shaded flowers, often on a long, slender stalk. But hostas are particularly prized for their large and showy foliage.
